A musical based on Watford Gap services is to mark the 50th anniversary?

Rumours that the roadworks will finally finished proved not to be so ;) ;D

Of course 50 years ago 70mph was hair raising speed that only grand prix drivers got up to on a race track - who'dve thought then that 50 years later even the cheapest, most limp-wristed, dreary cars can now reach those dizzying heights?

A musical based on Watford Gap services? Is one half going to be incomplete and devoid of any content? ;D

It's also amazing that 50 years ago you could reach that incredible speed on one of Midland Reds motorway coaches, wheras these days the modern coaches on the M1 are limited to 62mph. 70 is still the legal limit for Buses on Motorways though, so those built before limiters became complusory can still do 70.

Also, these days on many sections of the M1 at certain times, 70 is just a dream, and of course on some parts you can't do above 50 anyway due to long term roadworks (a lot of the East Midlands part of the M1 is like that).
